Family Sessions

January 20th, 2013 admin Blog No comments

I have recently introduced family sessions to my list of packages, as a result of many requests for this last year. I appreciate that photographing families is a natural progression from photographing children, and I was starting to involve parents more and more in my children’s photoshoots anyway, so it seemed a no-brainer to offer this as a package. I ended up doing my first family shoot in the Autumn of 2012 and really enjoyed it!

Myself and the Johnstone family went for a lovely walk on a sunny Autumnal afternoon. This was such a fantastic way of doing the portraits, as it not only gave us lots of variety when it came to locations, but it also made everyone so much more relaxed as we wandered along taking in the surroundings.  The family were such a breeze to work with, the two teenage boys took direction so well and weren’t embarrassed to have their photos taken, apart from the points where I asked their parents to steal a kiss that is!

I know the family were delighted with the final results, and plan to have lots of the photos put together in a framed multi aperture mount when they can decide which ones to go for, which they admit they are finding it hard to do.  I’m really looking forward to seeing the end result.

Family sessions cost £75 for up to 2 hours, and can include as many immediate family members as you wish. We can go for a walk as I did with the Johnstone family, or we can just choose a location and spend a relaxed session exploring what it has to offer. I am even happy to consider coming to your home, so long as there are suitable areas for creating a nice backdrop, as well as sufficient natural light available. You are also free to decide how you would like to use the time for this session; maybe you want it to be solely about your children or perhaps you don’t have any children and just want a nice grown up portrait, there are unlimited variations on the theme and the choice is yours. Contact me for more information.

Teenage Kicks

January 6th, 2013 admin Blog No comments

Happy New Year to you all.  Once again it’s been too long since I have posted on my blog, and one of my new years resolutions is to make sure this is kept more up to date, so here goes my first post for 2013.

I’ve started the year with such a renewed excitement for Alice Rose, and am full of ideas. One of the new changes I’ve made is the introduction of Teenage Portrait Shoots, as I think the fact I focused upon children meant that older teens felt they might not be included in this category. I have done a few shoots of this age group, and must admit that I’ve thoroughly enjoyed each one.  Although I love the unpredictability of young children, I have also enjoyed the opposite with teens, the fact that they take direction so well, and you can go for a more pre-planned image in a more controlled environment. Variety is definitely the spice of life, and I’m bursting with ideas and am ready to get started again.

The latest shoot was with a teen who needed a portfolio for the acting school she was being auditioned to attend.  It was a wonderfully crisp sunny afternoon in early January, and I was so pleased with the results, as was she!  Here are some images from that shoot.

The price for a teenage shoot is £75, and this covers up to two teens at a time for up to 2 hours session time. You can find more information on the site, on the Sessions and Prices page.
