The Brown’s were one of the families who had booked me for a Mini Session in April, but had been forced to reschedule due to the bad weather. We planned to do the shoot one day on the beach after school, so I must admit I wasn’t sure what to expect. I knew the children were both pretty young, and as it was so close to teatime I had expected they might be a little fed up. The wind was also picking up all that day, so I was also prepared for the possibility of being forced to reschedule again. I have to say that thankfully there was no need for me to be concerned in the slightest.
The family were a pleasure to photograph. I took a few group shots, then spent time on each child individually, incorporating a few props into the shots as the time went on. The little girl was a little wary at first, but I loved her expressions as she relaxed more, from fairly serious and cautious, to the joy of having sand in between her fingers, to pure laughter at the very end. And the boy was just a dream, so lovely and happy, and all the time really wanting to be photographed. They were so photogenic, I could have carried on snapping away for hours.
I must admit, I do have a new love of photographing down at the beach, especially when it is cloudy as the light is so even and beautiful. This was one of my favourite family shoots to date, and I’m happy that the Brown’s are delighted with their photo’s too!
